Galaxy Video uses Vinten Vector pan and tilt heads for the ultimate wedding video
Galaxy Video has taken the wedding video to new production heights using a nine-strong crew, operating seven broadcast quality cameras with 70x Canon box lenses supported with Vinten’s Vector pan and tilt heads.
The high profile wedding, which took place at the Park Lane Hotel in Piccadilly, London, was broadcast live on plasma screens to the 450 guests and included not only the civil ceremony in the Ballroom but the spectacular light and dance shows that followed.
“This was a high profile, high level event – way beyond the usual wedding video!” said Mike Kelly, of Galaxy Video. “It was a major live broadcast as far as we were concerned, so we needed to have the crew and kit to cover an event where equipment reliability and the highest quality broadcasting are guaranteed.
“We chose to use Vinten’s Vector pan and tilt heads because of their versatility and reliability. They are ideal for use with the latest digital cameras with long lenses and simple to adjust when the pressure of a live event is on!”
The Vector heads from Vinten, a Vitec Group brand, were used to support three fixed position cameras filming the wedding over three days – from set-up on Friday, through the actual wedding party on Saturday and dismantling everything on the Sunday.
Vector pan and tilt heads are designed to support full facility cameras and portable camera combinations using a long focal length lens. The widely acclaimed heads are extensively used throughout the world but are usually found supporting OB and studio productions for television broadcast rather than weddings!
All Vector heads feature the Vinten Perfect Balance system, which ensures consistent movement and easy positioning of the camera, eliminating physical strain, whilst the patented Drag Systems offer complete control at any level of movement.
“We usually shoot with a minimum of two cameras but this was altogether a much more elaborate and demanding event,” said Mike Kelly. “We consider ourselves to be at the high end of the wedding video business – and so our experience is with professional, full-sized cameras and support equipment. All the kit – including the Vector pan and tilt heads - proved their worth in helping us deliver a totally professional production for these clients.”
