VINTEN RECEIVES NEW ORDER FROM RYERSON UNIVERSITY, TORONTO, CANADA

29/07/2005

Founded in 1948, Ryerson University was granted full university status 1993 and now has 20,000 full-time students, 650 master's and PhD students and more than 80 undergraduate, master's and PhD programs. It has five faculties: Arts; Business; Communication & Design; Community Services; Engineering and Applied Science. Ryerson was, and is presently the most recognised University in Canada for television, audio, film and multimedia training.

yerson University’s School of Radio and Television Arts initially purchased Vinten pedestal and head systems back in the 1970’s, and has now decided it is time for an upgrade. The original systems will be replaced in one new high definition studio facility, and a new 16*9 SDI studio facility, both fully equipped with 4 Osprey Elite’s, 2 Quattro S, all with the new Vector 60 pan and tilt heads.

The decision to purchase Vinten was made by Ryerson after visiting the Vinten booth at NAB 05. The entire project to refurbish the old studios and build the new was given to distributor Applied Electronics, and the entire job was awarded via RFQ government tender.

The products will be used as part of a curriculum designed to teach students professional production and technical skills, and potentially as part of the process of updating the skills of those currently employed as professional camera operators.

They selected the Vinten products for their durability and functionality. The Vinten pedestals and heads they are replacing are 25-30 years old and still work. They have become the Industry standard. They wanted to use Vinten’s most modern pedestals and heads, those that they knew the students would encounter in the real world.

The equipment will be installed and ready to go for September, start of classes.
