TV Technology Star Award and TVB Europe “Best in Show” Award
The revolutionary Vinten Vector 950 Active Pan & Tilt head and Canon’s new DIGISUPER 100AF and DIGISUPER 86AF autofocus lenses, were awarded the coveted TV Technology Star Award and the TVB Europe “Best in Show Award at
IBC 2007. Thanks to Vinten and Canon, with this system, camera operators can now pan and tilt as fast as they like.
The unique combined system brings instant, smooth fast action coverage of sports and events to a new level by integrating the advanced capabilities of Canon’s unique Shift-IS lens technology with the special encoders built into the Vector 950 Active. Combined with a customised serial controller box this creates the link between the two technologies. The high resolution encoders in the Vector 950 Active system provide the perfect output for compatibility with Canon’s new DIGISUPER100AF and 86AF long field zoom lenses.
The result is the elimination of any trace of lag after fast pan or tilt shots - a great advantage in the production of fast paced HDTV sport and live entertainment events.
At a special event to celebrate the merging of these two technologies, held at the Hotel Okura during IBC, Mr Toshinori Higaki, Technical Director of Canon Inc. announced that all future Canon DIGISUPER field lenses featuring Canon's Optical Shift Image Stabilizer will also be compatible with Vinten's Vector 950 Active Pan & Tilt technology.
“The exclusive technology collaboration between Canon and Vinten takes Canon’s superior Shift IS Image-Stabilizer system and makes it an even greater tool for camera operators when combined with Vinten’s Vector 950 Active head,” said Ken Koyama of Canon Europe.”
“The awards received is international recognition for our unique collaboration with Canon,” said Joop Janssen, Chief Executive, Broadcast Systems Division, of the Vitec Group. “With this new technology we are able to address some of the key issues for the HDTV market which requires sharper, more stable pictures.”
