Studio camerawork can be very demanding, requiring precise shots to be delivered repeatedly under pressure – often in noise sensitive and dimly lit locations. Achieving this relies not only on skill and practice, but also on quality, reliable equipment.
Pedestals are typically used in studios and because they are a dynamic tool - used during recording – noise and smoothness of movement are critical factors to consider. In addition height range is key: the ideal studio pedestal should enable the operator to place the lens below the eye line of a person sitting in a chair, as well as position the camera lens over the shoulder of a person standing on set.

Of course pedestals are only one part of the studio set-up. Pan and tilt heads have to be reliable, quick to set-up and often capable of holding multiple accessories such as prompters and talent monitors. Most importantly they have to help the operator achieve the exacting standards demanded by today’s audiences.
