Vinten has won another order from Anglia Ruskin University in the UK, making it one of the largest academic users of its pedestals, tripods and heads. The latest order is for 18 Pro-6HDVF tripod and head combinations, together with a large number of Petrol bags.
Anglia Ruskin University has campuses in Chelmsford and Cambridge in the east of England. Its strong reputation for the creative arts grew out of the Cambridge School of Art, established over 150 years ago. Today there are around 130 students on the film and television production course, but the well established film studies pathway is also a degree in its own right, so at any time there are as many as 400 students engaged in practical video production exercises.
“Our courses are very highly regarded, not least because students produce excellent projects using real world equipment,” said Sean Thornton, the video producer at Anglia Ruskin University who is responsible for designing the systems. “So in our studios we have Vinten Osprey pedestals, and for location work we use the Vinten Pro-6HDVF tripods and pan and tilt heads – we have around 40 of them now.
“The nature of the course is very diverse, and our students are constantly out, shooting drama and documentary,” he explained. “I chose Vinten products because I know that they last well with service reasonably priced. In fact, in the three years that we have been using the Pro-6 we have needed only one minor repair, despite the kit going out every day.
“The other great benefit of the Pro-6 is that it has the right features at the right price,” Thornton added. “The students have confidence in the professional results available.”
“We are always very pleased to be associated with institutions which are producing the professionals of tomorrow,” said David Monkhouse, regional sales manager. “One of the first lessons a camera operator learns is that investing in a good tripod and head will pay dividends in reliability, and in smooth and consistent movement. Using the Vinten Pro-6 ensures that the students of Anglia Ruskin are prepared for professional production - and get the right shots for their projects.”
