VINTEN CELEBRATES AN ILLUSTRIOUS PAST & EXCITING FUTURE

14/03/2007

Local company holds special ceremony at its Bury St Edmunds site to salute a pioneering founder

It’s almost 100 years since William Vinten took his first tentative steps into the fledgling British film industry and on 12 March 2007, the international, multi-million pound business that is Vinten today, marked that brave move into an untried industry by naming the company’s headquarters in Western Way, Bury St Edmunds, the William Vinten Building. The naming ceremony was undertaken by special guests of honour - Mr William Vinten (son of the founder) and his wife Elaine.

Vinten has been at the Bury St Edmunds site since 1964, with currently 158 employees on site, and the naming ceremony is part of an-going refurbishment plan which also encompasses a sophisticated new Product Demonstration Suite.

"This special event not only helps us celebrate the great Vinten heritage but an exciting future for the company too," said Joop Janssen, Chief Executive, Broadcast Systems Division, of Vinten’s parent company, the Vitec Group plc. "Today also marks Vinten’s move into the Camera Dynamics business group of Vitec, which includes five other leading broadcast industry brands – Vinten Radamec, Autoscript, Sachtler, OConnor and Petrol."
