NAB 2003 POST SHOW REVIEW

01/05/2003

The Lowdown

The industry anticipated a slow show this year with the war discouraging overseas travellers. More than 100,000 were expected to attend NAB, but only 89,000 attended, with noticeably less European and Asia Pacific visitors.
We were pleasantly suprised to be a mere 50 leads down on last year's attendance, so although many exhibitors experienced a very slow show, Vinten had a steady stream of visitors. The expression 'quality not quantity' could be heard throughout the exhibition centre with regards to attendees.
The new Vinten stand provided a welcoming and approachable display to visitors, encouraging 'hands on' experience of the products.

The Vinten Stand

NAB saw the first introduction of Fibertec to the US market. The new tripod received three awards (see below) from a variety of magazines: one aimed at Governmental readership, a videographer-specific magazine and one aimed at the digital TV sector. It's great to see that Fibertec is recognised for its excellence across a broad spectrum of the market, attracting attention from cameramen working in News to those doing wildlife documentaries.

The New AutoCam Series 200 Control System also drew a lot of interest and excitement amongst visitors, who recognised the benefits of multi control of pedestals and heads in a number of facilities from one control system.

Hat-Trick of Awards for Fibertec

The Vidy Award 2003 for "Advancement in the Art and Science of Video Technology" awarded by Videography Magazine

Editors Pick of the Show, for "Advancement in the Science, Art and Business of Television" awarded by Digital TV Magazine

"In Recognition of Innovative Achievement in the Advancement of Video Technology" awarded by Government Video Magazine
