Booth # C6412
Vinten, a Vitec Group brand, and one of the world’s most trusted names in camera support systems and accessories for ENG, EFP, OB and studio environments will be showcasing a range of innovative yet still practical products at NAB 2008, able to meet the changing demands of today’s broadcast world – from live news action to fast moving sports.
Among the comprehensive Vinten range of manual heads, tripods and pedestals on display, highlights include the new Vector 750 and Vector 950 Active pan & tilt heads as well as the Vision iScript totally portable prompting solution.
Vision iScript Systems
Many broadcast professionals have previously avoided so-called portable prompting devices for many reasons, but primarily because of tricky set-up and dismantling and notoriously bulky, heavy equipment in numerous flight cases!
Now Vinten has created the ultimate portable prompting solution with the Vision iScript , ideal for on-the-move news coverage and designed to work with the mains/battery powered GoPrompt 12 system from Autoscript. It can also be combined with a Vision Ped Plus pedestal or Pozi-loc tripod, so it can be used for every type of application from the studio to the most rugged outdoor terrain.
Autoscript’s GoPrompt differs from the traditional teleprompter because the computer, running on a standard Windows XP operating system is built into the prompting screen. The system has a wireless scroll control so the only cable required is the power line from the mains or batteries.
This highly compact, uniquely featured system makes portable prompting a viable option at last – with everything you need in one neat rolling case. The Vision iScript system offers convenience, durability, flexibility and true portability in two unique solutions.
Vector 750 Pan & Tilt Head
Vinten has combined the best of the functionality and durability of the hugely successful Vector 700 Standard and H version pan and tilt heads in the new Vector 750 . It features Vinten’s unique Perfect Balance system, which offers precisely the right amount of torque necessary to counterbalance the camera throughout its tilt range, making the camera appear weightless in the hands of the operator.
Like the Vector 700, the Vector 750’s unique counterbalance mechanism does not use springs or cams. Instead a system of mechanical linkages can balance cameras with various centre-of-gravity points, making adjustment simple and eliminating the need for time-consuming cam changes when altering the camera configuration. This makes the Vector 750 the obvious choice for fast paced sports events or breaking news where rapid set-up and ease of use are critical.
The maximum payload of the Vector 750 is 75kg, increased from 70kg on the Vector 700. This makes it easier to operate with more camera accessories such as talent monitors and spotlights. The Vector 750 also has a centre of gravity range span of 80 to 250mm, ideal for OB and production companies using a variety of camera configurations.
Other key features include an ergonomic design improvement to the slide plate positioner, and inclusion of higher output drag modules, which increase the available friction range to give better control for heavier payloads. The addition of new, robust internal components also makes the Vector 750 even more durable.
Vector 950 Active
Vinten’s Vector 950 Active pan & tilt head complements Canon’s DIGISUPER 100AF and DIGISUPER 86AF long-field zoom lenses to eliminate any trace of lag after fast pan or tilt shots--a great advantage in the production of fast-paced HDTV sports and live-entertainment events. The Canon-Vinten collaboration integrates the advanced capabilities of Canon’s Shift-IS lens technology with the special encoders built into Vinten’s Vector 950 Active pan/tilt head, and combined with a customised serial controller box, creates the link between the two technologies. The high resolution encoders in the Vector 950 Active provide the perfect output for compatibility with the new Canon AF lenses. This technology addresses some of the key issues of the HDTV market, which requires sharper, more stable pictures. It is also compression-friendly as it delivers a more stable source image, which minimises the amount of processing required by the encoders to produce the perfect final image for broadcast output.
